Last week we gave some tips on how you can get your newsletter out there by linking to your Revue subscribe page on your social media accounts. This time around, the focus will be specifically on Facebook and the magic little trick called “Facebook Lead Ads”.

So for those of you who are not familiar with Facebook Lead Ads, the main thing you need to know is that those are paid advertisement to collect contact information. They are those little posts that pop up on your feed from time to time that usually have an appealing image and a sign up button in the bottom left part. You can’t really create them for your own personal Facebook account since they are meant for the purposes of creating leads (information about potential clients) for your business. Thus, if you decide to use this nifty little tool to boost your newsletter awareness, you’re in luck because I’m about to explain to you how you can set those up real quick.

And remember, Facebook Leads are a very efficient way of promoting your Revue newsletter since you can target specific audiences and reach more people. You will have to pay a little bit for it, but nevertheless the ROI on this will make a difference when it comes to your newsletter.

So how do you set up a Facebook Lead Ad to get new subscribers for your Revue personal newsletter?

STEP 1

Go to Facebook Ad Manager and click on “Create Ad”.

STEP 2

Now choose the goal for your campaign (Lead generation in our case). This is basically deciding your “marketing objective”. So for example, lead generation will help you get leads for your newsletter, like names and email addresses, which will be super useful for the future.

Choose “Lead generation” objective

STEP 3

Then simply choose your Facebook page and decide on the audience you want to target. Great thing about Facebook Lead Ads is that you can really go into specifics when narrowing details down like location, language, gender, occupation and much more. Also, once you’ve set a specific type of audience, this will be automatically saved in order for you to target again later if you want to.

STEP 4

Once you’ve done that and you move on to the next stage, you have to now decide on start and end date of your campaign as well as budgeting. The great thing is that once you decide on an amount of money, Facebook will show you approximately how much people you will reach with your Revue newsletter campaign. And once your money is done with, the campaign will stop but beforehand you will get a notification that the campaign is about to end. So no worries if you’d like to prolong your campaign since you will receive a reminder and you will be able to top off your credit if you decide to. You can also decide the specific times when your add will run!

Set budget and schedule

STEP 5

Now you can be as creative as you want since you get to actually put your campaign together. Here you can choose what type of an ad it will be (carousel, an image, a video or a slideshow). Upload your images, write in your compelling text and don’t forget about the persuasive CTA!

STEP 6

After this, you will get to check out and edit the actual lead form your viewers will get to after clicking on your ad. You can continue with “New Form” and “Next”. Here you will see the option to edit your content card, where you can again decide on text and CTA given that this is one of the first things viewers will see.

And at this point you will be able to choose what type of information (leads) you will want from the people who clicked. In the case that you’re promoting your Revue newsletter, all you will need is an email address. In some cases, name might be an option as well, even though that might not be really necessary. The last thing you can decide on here is the privacy policy (to make the process easier for you, you can simply link to here).

STEP 7

And last but definitely not least, just add a link to your issue/profile page on Revue to the thank you page of the Lead Ad, so people who clicked on your add can automatically go to it. Then click on “Finish Form” and “Place Order”. That’s it!

Add link to the Revue issue archive to thank you page

STEP 8

Now you have the option to test your ad on desktop, mobile, checking all the placements you chose like the newsfeed and even Instagram.

STEP 9

You can also retrieve your leads by navigating to the ad in ad manager and downloading them. Or you can use Zapier to automatically transfer your newly acquired email addresses to your Revue newsletter list.

MAGIC! 😊

That’s it folks! Now go and amaze the digital world with your awesome new skill that will help you not only with getting more people to your personal newsletter, but the right ones at that! 😋
